Your Health Visitor |
The
Family Caring Trust programmes have been endorsed by the
Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association of
England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and many health visitors
find that these courses enhance their work. There are also a
number of voluntary organisations like Homestart and Barnardos
that organise these courses at venues throughout the country. If
an individual health visitor is not familiar with the courses,
you might ask them to visit our website.

The
Trust’s courses have also been endorsed by all the mainstream
Christian Churches – this can be confirmed at any of their
national family departments. Although the Trust has no links
with any religious organisation, there is also an optional Christian
dimension and an optional Islamic dimension in each of the
courses. These have been written by people with a special
interest in family life who are committed to these faiths.

Well
over a thousand schools have been using our courses, and parents
of children at the school soon take over from teachers in
providing this kind of social parenting support for any
interested parents. School heads who are unfamiliar with our
courses might also visit our website.

Many
professional people have simply bought a parenting kit
from us, gathered some friends and started to use the
materials for a self-help group. The input for the course
does not come from them – it comes from the video and
from the script in the Leader’s Guide. Because the Leader’s
Guide is laid out so simply, and includes a script, many
people remark that ‘the course runs itself’! If you would
like to become an officially accredited facilitator for
the Trust’s parenting courses, you can order Manual
for training people to run Family Caring Trust programmes
(see the section, 'Courses, Books, Videos and Games to
Support Families'). The manual is used by organisations
to provide training accredited by the Open College Network
at Level 3.
